FAMILIES

We were so lucky as to be hosted by  English families so we had the opportunity to discover a reality which is different from ours. The first thing that we noticed is how early they have their meals; at first we thought that we wouldn’t be hungry at 6.30 pm but after a tough day and a quick lunch we realized that it was just natural. Families were very nice and welcoming and they always tried to include us in their daily activities like watching TV together after dinner It was a wonderful experience and we would love to repeat that anytime!

THE TOUR

We visited the city of London in three days, we went to the Tate Modern  Gallery, we took a walk along the Thames and we visited the GlobeTheatre. Than we did a tour with some destinations: the British Museum, The National Gallery and Buckingham Palace. We also had some time to do shopping in the main streets: Oxford street,
Piccadilly Circus and Regent street.

CAMBRIDGE

On the third day we visited Cambridge, a little and welcoming town. It took an hour and a half to reach Cambridge from Northwood by coach. We were lucky because the sun was shining even though it was really windy. We should had visited the King’s   Chapel, but only few of us did it because many preferred to stroll around and take a look at the city. There were many stalls in the main square and kiosks of baked potatoes. In the afternoon we went to the Fitzwilliam Museum where Mrs. Guadagnin illustrated us some famous paintings. There were pictures by Modigliani, Monet, Renoir, Picasso and many others. At 4 o’clock we came back to our families.

ST.HELEN’S SCHOOL

We went to St. Helen school on Wednesday. We were divided in small groups and we followed all the lessons of our partner student. We had lunch at the canteen and in the afternoon we took part in a n Art ab activity . Finally we took part in a lesson about King Henry VIII. It was a school only for girls. There were different buildings. They can do four subjects and they have an examination at the end of the year. They also have some free hours. They usually go in studying-classrooms and they can do whatever they want. They wear an uniform.

WEMBLEY

Wembley reopened its doors in 2007. Every year it hosts several events: football matches, concerts, etc.. We went there on Saturday morning. In England they consider Wembley Stadium “The church of football”. We went behind the scenes of the stadium. We saw the dressing room and the press room and we walked along the pitch and it was an amazing experience.

OUR OPINIOS

This experience tought us the meaning of words that seem to be elementary but in effect they have a deep meaning: solidarity, sharing, teamwork and reciprocal help. Above all we thank teachers (Mrs) Savio and Guadagnin which, with their linguistic stage experiences, proposed to the class interesting activities, by alternating school activities with spare time and entertainment.

Bye!
